Didi’s Delightful and Disastrous! November 2016

~Note: There was a bit of an issue with this post as it wasn’t showing up correctly. But that’s all fixed now! 🙂 Sorry for the inconvenience. (Technology, amirite?)

Dear Mimi,

I can’t believe there’s only a month left in the year °o°. That is INSANE.

November was a whirlwind, so sorry this is a little late. One of my close friends got married, and then there was Thanksgiving, and holiday shopping, and whew! I didn’t even realize it went by that quickly. Anyway, I still did get to try out a few products and here’s what I think were worth it and not.

YSL Mon Paris Eau de Parfum ($70 for 1 oz)

This. In September, I received a Sephora fragrance sampler and this was by far my favorite one from the bunch. So, when the Sephora VIB sale hit, I knew I had to get this and I did. It’s incredible and everything I want in a perfume. It is a little bit on the sweeter side and it smells girly and princess-y. So I wouldn’t recommend if you like fragrances with a little more spice. But for me, this was heavenly.

Tory Burch Absolu Eau de Parfum ($105 for 1.7 oz)

How this made its way into my collection (and my heart) is actually an interesting story. I picked up a duo of this as a gift for a friend’s birthday. Then, I figured that I didn’t want to just give her 2 perfumes, so I would keep one and give her something else as well.

And that, Mimi, was one of the best decisions I could have made. This one doesn’t smell like the perfumes I usually go for, but there’s just something about it. It embodies elegance and class in a very muted way, which I adore. Another bonus? It lasts for hours and hours. I put this on at night once, and could still smell it when I woke up the next morning.

Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask ($92 for 3.3 oz)

During the Sephora sale, I also picked up a set of Fresh’s most popular masks, and this one was included. I had never tried it before, but oh my goodness. It makes your skin feel so soft and hydrated, which is absolutely perfect with these drying winter months coming up.

Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask ($92 for 3.3 oz)

Again, this was another mask included in the set, and I like this one a little more than the other Black Tea one. Everytime I put this on, I wake up with glowing skin that looks awake and ready to tackle the day. It wears like a cream and it’s so so soooo soothing. Paired right after the Black Tea Perfecting Mask, it does wonders.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater ($7)

After I used up my pure rosewater toner from India, I decided to go with this one (since it was the only toner with rosewater in it at Ulta). And I like it a lot. It’s relatively inexpensive and it lasts for a while. I like that I comes in a spray bottle so you don’t need to mess around with cotton rounds and stuff. Simply spray it 3-5 times on your face and rub it in before you apply your moisturizers or treatments for night or day.

Butter London Patent Shine 10x Nail Lacquer in ‘Tea with the Queen’ ($18)

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely adore nude-y nailpolish shades. This was perfect for November with fall finally starting to kick in and the Thanksgiving holiday. This color lasted for a week straight with no chips or scratches (no topcoat!) and shined bright like a diamond all the way through.

The only downside is that it’s pricey for a nailpolish. I personally got this for free as  Platinum Perk from Ulta, but otherwise I would never shell out that much for a nailpolish.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo in Bronze/Pepper ($14)

The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche formula is hands down my favorite lipstick formula. Ever. There are too many great things about it. It’s creamy. It’s pigmented. It’s natural. It’s cruelty free. It’s free of parabens. It’s made with food grade products, so it’s completely edible if you get insanely hungry. It has an insane amount of colors. It lasts. And best of all? It smells like gummy bears. Gummy bears! If you don’t have one, you’re missing out.

So it was just a Christmas miracle that Bite Beauty released these dual ended lipsticks for the holiday season. The Pepper color is a nice nude mauve shade, which is already one of my favorites. But, what’s even better is the gold shade. This is a color not available in the regular Amuse Bouche shade range, but it’s amazing. It can be worn separately or over the Pepper shade for a unique and fun look.

Get these while you can! They make great gifts too!

Dior DiorShow Mascara ($28.50)

Okay, so I would never splurge on this in real life. Hence, I was uber lucky to get a sample size of this and it is just beautiful. It fans out the lashes giving them length and volume and makes me look like I’m wearing falsies. It also comes with cool packaging that you just pull up the wand from, instead of twisting it off, which is supposed to make sure the mascara doesn’t dry out.

It’s one of those things that I almost don’t want you to go out and buy, because once you try this, it’s a never ending obsession. Oops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Algenist SPLASH Absolute Hydration Replenishing Sleeping Pack ($48 for 2 oz)

This was something else that I received in the Sephora Favorites Beauty Sleep Set and I’m honestly considering going out and buying the full size when I finish this (which mind you will be like June 2018 because this lasts forever). I usually put this over my aloe vera gel for extra hydration and it works wonderfully. It gives a cooling effect and it just feels like your skin is taking a huge gulp of water. You just need 4 little dips into the tub for the 4 areas of your face and it melts into your skin like no other. I love it, can you tell?

Green Leaf Pure Aloe Vera Gel ($5)

Last, but definitely not least here, is pure aloe vera gel. Now, this is the one that I use, and it is from India, but honestly, any pure aloe vera gel will do. This will fix any skin issues you have, including redness, acne, rashes, sunburns, cuts, wounds, bumps, irritations, you name it. It’s a little sticky at first, but as your skin absorbs it, it feels nice a soft.

However, it will not moisturize your skin, so make sure to use a moisturizer on top of it.

EOS Lip Balm in Mint ($3.29)

Okay, so I have mixed feelings about this, which is why I put if after the “last but not least” item on this list. It’s not quite delightful, but it’s not quite disastrous either. This works well, but only in certain situations. I tried using this overnight and it did nothing. In fact, I think my lips got worse. But during the day or for short amounts of time, it works really well. I wouldn’t really call it hydrating, but it does give a nice burst of moisture when you need it most or under liquid lipsticks.

Versace Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette ($55 for 1 oz)

This fragrance wasn’t exactly bad, I have to admit. But, my main issue is that I couldn’t really smell it! Maybe because it’s a toilette instead of a parfum, but it just smelled too alcohol-y for me. I’m going to try the Absolu version and see if that’s any better. I’ll update you in December!

Herbivore Coco Rose Lip Conditioner ($22)

I feel so sad putting this on my disastrous list. It’s so cute and so pretty to look it. However, it’s too lightweight, almost to a fault. I feel like I just keep putting this on and on and on and I can’t feel anything, nor does it do anything. For $22, it’s just not worth it and there’s products with more substantial effects out there for less.

I do appreciate the brand and how they’re committed to using natural products though!

And that’s a wrap Mimi! I can already tell December is going to be jam packed, so next month’s should be exciting!

P.S. Have any suggestions for 2017? Leave it in the comments. I would love to try it out!
